Agadir-Inzegane Weather Station Recognized by WMO as Centennial Observing Station

The weather station Agadir-Inzegane has been recognized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as a centenary observing station.

The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) obtained international recognition for “having maintained in service for over 100 years the weather station of Agadir-Inzegane,” at the end of the 73rd session of the Executive Council of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) held in Geneva from 14 to 25 June, said Tuesday a statement by the DGM.

This recognition aims to promote good practices and highlight the efforts of meteorological observers of the DGM as well as their contribution to the protection of people and property through the observation of the atmosphere, watch and weather vigilance.

Commissioned in 1921, the Agadir-Inzegane station was rewarded with a certificate of international recognition as a centennial observing station after successfully completing the process of analysis, validation and evaluation of information presented by the DGM to the group of experts of the WMO in charge of the recognition process.

The Casa-Anfa weather station, commissioned in 1911, had also been recognized in June 2018, by the WMO as a centennial Observing station.
