Agri Trade Maroc expands with new fertilizer plant in Meknès

Farming for the future: how science is powering Morocco’s green generation

Two years after setting up a production unit in southern Morocco, Agri Trade Maroc is taking another major step forward in its expansion. The subsidiary of Groupe SCE (formerly Société des Fertilisants du Maroc) is establishing itself in the Agropolis of Meknès, a key hub dedicated to the agro-industrial sector.

As part of this new phase, the company is building a state-of-the-art facility for the formulation and production of fertilizers within this strategic industrial zone. With an investment exceeding 70 million dirhams, the project aims to strengthen Agri Trade Maroc’s industrial and logistical network. The company already operates two production units in Jorf Lasfar and Agadir, along with a logistics base in Kénitra, which boasts a storage capacity of over 100,000 tons.

Founded in 1997 as a spin-off from SCE, Agri Trade Maroc has established itself as a key player in the trading and distribution of fertilizers. Initially formed as a joint venture with Norway’s Norsk Hydro, the company continued to expand independently following the withdrawal of its international partner. Unlike competitors such as Charaf Corporation and Fertima, which eventually disappeared from the market, Agri Trade Maroc has successfully adapted to the industry’s evolving landscape.

To support its growth ambitions, the company opened its capital in 2023 to CDG Invest Growth (CIG), the private equity investment arm of the CDG Group. The fund injected over 100 million dirhams, bolstering Agri Trade Maroc’s financial foundation and accelerating its development both within Morocco and internationally.

With the launch of this new plant in Meknès, Agri Trade Maroc is reinforcing its leadership in the fertilizer sector and maintaining its momentum in a rapidly changing market.
