AI to take center stage at the 6th African Digital Summit in october 2024

Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be the main focus of the upcoming 6th African Digital Summit, scheduled for October 2024, according to Youssef Cheikhi, President of the Moroccan Advertisers Association (GAM). Speaking on Thursday in Casablanca, Cheikhi highlighted the summit as a must-attend event for the digital landscape across Africa.

Organized by GAM, the African Digital Summit aims to connect digital players from across the continent and shine a spotlight on the challenges and opportunities tied to AI. “This edition comes at a time of rapid transformation, where AI presents numerous opportunities but also raises challenges, particularly in areas like energy and talent,” Cheikhi noted during the event’s presentation.

Since its launch in 2014, the summit has provided deep insights into digital trends while serving as a hub for networking among brands, advertisers, and startups. One of the key features of the event is the startup space, which gives young companies the chance to meet both Moroccan and international decision-makers, creating a unique opportunity to connect supply with demand and drive innovation in the digital ecosystem.

Cheikhi also highlighted that GAM, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, continues to represent the interests of Moroccan advertisers and plays a central role in the development of marketing teams. With over 100 member companies, the association accounts for 98% of advertising investments in Morocco. As part of a global network of advertisers, GAM stays in close contact with international developments in the sector.

Nadia Rahim, President of the Summit’s Scientific Committee, added that AI has become a central theme in discussions, transforming industries such as customer relations, e-commerce, and content creation. Rahim emphasized that brands need to quickly adapt to these changes to stay competitive in both African and global markets.

She also discussed AI’s growing influence in sports marketing, a timely topic as Africa gears up for major events like the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup. According to Rahim, AI will be key to engaging fans and crafting more effective marketing campaigns, helping brands achieve global visibility.

The 6th African Digital Summit is shaping up to be a catalyst for digital transformation in Africa, gathering bright minds and experts to inspire and drive the continent’s future digital strategies.
