Aya Gold & Silver has found very high silver grades during new drilling at the Zgounder silver mine in Taroudant province. Some drill sections contained up to 7,717 grams of silver per tonne. The results could help the Canadian mining company expand the mine’s mineral resources.
Drilling in the deep central area found 4,770 grams of silver per tonne over 2.4 metres. Another section averaged 3,501 grams per tonne over 3.5 metres, including 1.5 metres at 7,717 grams per tonne.
Drilling near the open pit returned 1,553 grams per tonne over 1.4 metres. Another section averaged 501 grams per tonne over 11 metres, including one metre at 4,000 grams per tonne.
Aya is carrying out the drilling as part of its 2026 exploration programme. The programme aims to find extensions of known silver deposits and identify new high-grade areas.
The company has completed 16,217 metres of drilling at Zgounder this year. That represents 54.1% of its planned drilling for 2026.
Aya plans to start drilling west of the fault in the fourth quarter. The work will take place as the company continues building an exploration tunnel at the 1,825-metre level.
Zgounder is one of Aya’s main mining projects in the country. The company is also developing the Boumadine polymetallic project in Errachidia province.
Aya has also increased production at Zgounder as part of its wider mine expansion. The mine produced a record 1.49 million silver-equivalent ounces in the second quarter of 2026, up 43% from the same period a year earlier.
