Spanish ferry company Baleària Eurolíneas Marítimas plans to expand its services between Spain and Morocco by acquiring part of the operations of the Armas Trasmediterránea group in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The deal focuses on assets used to run the ferry route between the Port of Algeciras in southern Spain and Tanger Med Port in northern Morocco.

The assets include a ship currently operating on the route, as well as the related port concessions and contracts that allow the use of public port space. Ticket sales areas at the ports are also part of the transaction.

Staff working on the service will transfer to Baleària under the plan. The deal also includes the IT systems and office equipment used to manage the route.

Baleària Eurolíneas Marítimas is based in Dénia. The company runs regular passenger and freight services between mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, as well as routes to several destinations in North Africa.

The assets currently belong to different companies within the Armas Trasmediterránea group, which operates passenger and cargo services between Spain and North Africa.

If completed, the transaction will transfer part of these activities to Baleària and allow the company to continue operating the ferry service across the Strait of Gibraltar.
