Bank of Africa has been named the best listed financial company in Morocco for the quality of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. It is the fourth year in a row that the bank has won the award. The award was organised by the Casablanca Stock Exchange with support from academic institutions in Morocco and Canada. These included the School of Management Sciences at the University of Quebec in Montreal, Finance Montréal, and the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Kenitra at Cadi Ayyad University.

The judges reviewed ESG reports from listed companies using international sustainability standards.

Bank of Africa came first in the financial sector after scoring highly in several areas. The judges praised the bank for covering key environmental, social and governance issues, reporting clear performance indicators, focusing on the ESG issues that matter most to its business, and engaging with stakeholders while linking its reporting to global standards.

The award follows a strong financial year for the bank.

Bank of Africa reported net profit attributable to shareholders of MAD 3.8 billion in 2025, up 11% from the previous year. Gross operating income rose 10% to MAD 11 billion, while net banking income in Morocco increased 13% to MAD 9.4 billion. Shareholders’ equity also grew 9% to MAD 32 billion.

The bank also improved its cost-to-income ratio to 45.8%.

Earlier this year, Bank of Africa launched PME Invest by BOA, a programme that provides financing and business support to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Its corporate foundation also supported more than 11,300 pupils through the Medersat.com programme. Two more schools in the programme received the Eco Ecoles accreditation.

The award comes as ESG reporting becomes more important for listed companies in Morocco. The Moroccan Capital Market Authority requires all companies listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange to publish ESG reports.
