Twelve new classroom libraries have been installed at Tariq Ben Ziad School in Laayoune as part of a literacy initiative led by the Banque Populaire Foundation. The effort is part of a broader strategy aimed at making reading a cornerstone of the learning experience for young students.
The school hosted a ceremony to mark the occasion, bringing together representatives from the Foundation, members of the Banque Populaire branch in Laayoune, and regional education officials. With the addition of these mini-libraries, every classroom at the school now has its own collection of age-appropriate books tailored to the students’ reading levels.
This initiative supports Morocco’s 2022–2026 education roadmap and aligns specifically with the “Pioneer Schools” program, which promotes innovative teaching methods. By creating a more engaging learning environment and offering structured support, the project aims to foster a love for reading early in children’s academic journey.
Education has long been a core focus of the Banque Populaire Foundation, which has been rolling out targeted, concrete programs in this field for decades. By expanding access to knowledge and culture, the Foundation hopes to contribute not only to individual student growth but also to the broader goal of sustainable regional development.
