Banque Commerciale Internationale (BCI), a subsidiary of Morocco’s Groupe BCP, has appointed Ibrahim Dohia Traoré as its new chief executive officer. The bank’s board approved the appointment on 11 September in Brazzaville. Traoré replaces André Gilles Ernest Collet, who has completed a seven-year term leading the Congolese bank.
Traoré has 27 years of experience in banking and information technology. Since 2022, he has been executive director in charge of international retail banking at BCP International, overseeing a network of 15 banks in 14 sub-Saharan African countries.
Before that, he headed the retail banking division of Atlantic Business International (ABI), Groupe BCP’s West African holding company, from 2020 to 2022. He also managed ABI’s organisation and information systems division between 2014 and 2020 and led Atlantique Technologie, which handled technology operations for ABI’s subsidiaries, from 2006 to 2014.
He holds a computer science degree from the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Côte d’Ivoire and an MBA specialising in financial management from ESG Paris.
BCI said the appointment is part of Groupe BCP’s ACT 2030 strategy. Traoré’s mission will be to “accelerate this momentum, strengthen the bank’s performance, and support its growth, transformation, and innovation ambitions in service of its clients and the Congolese economy”.
The appointment comes as BCI continues to modernise its technology infrastructure, including the migration of its core banking system to Amplitude Up and the development of digital banking channels.
Groupe BCP, headquartered in Morocco, operates in 32 countries, including 18 African markets. The group ranked sixth in Africa by Tier 1 capital in The Banker’s 2025 rankings.
The board thanked Collet for his seven years of service and wished Traoré success in his new role.
