BMCI and REM renew partnership to empower women entrepreneurship

On December 5, 2024, in Casablanca, BMCI and Réseau Entreprendre Maroc (REM) announced the renewal of their partnership, reaffirming their commitment to fostering women-led and social entrepreneurship in Morocco.

Since its launch in 2019, this collaboration has successfully financed and mentored numerous entrepreneurial projects across the country, emphasizing socio-economic impact and innovation.

For 2024, BMCI has doubled its financial support for REM’s initiatives, raising the funding for prêts d’honneur from 1 million to 2 million dirhams. These interest-free loans, which require no guarantees, have been pivotal in helping young entrepreneurs launch impactful businesses.

“In a growing Morocco, we need all the vibrant forces of entrepreneurship and a strong entrepreneurial network. Banks play a critical role in driving this dynamic. Fully aware of its responsibility, BMCI is renewing its partnership with Réseau Entreprendre Maroc for the second time. REM is doing commendable work in advancing entrepreneurship, particularly among women. We are delighted to continue this collaboration and to witness the flourishing of businesses across Morocco,” stated Hicham Seffa, Chairman of BMCI’s Executive Board.

The partnership has supported a variety of projects spanning sectors like agro-food, education, artisanal crafts, and services. These businesses, led by women entrepreneurs, are thriving in cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Khouribga, and El Jadida, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of the ventures supported.

“We are proud to have BMCI, part of the BNP Paribas Group, as our partner. Their trust in Réseau Entreprendre Maroc for the second time allows us to support young entrepreneurs, particularly women, in their entrepreneurial journey. Alongside the interest-free loans capped at 100,000 dirhams, we provide mentorship and coaching from experienced entrepreneurs,” said Wafa Belmaachi, President of Réseau Entreprendre Maroc.

In addition to its partnership with REM, BMCI continues its efforts to empower women entrepreneurs through its Wom’Energy program. This initiative offers personalized support, mentoring, and enhanced networking opportunities to help women navigate the entrepreneurial landscape.

The Wom’Energy program aligns with BMCI’s broader vision of promoting inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship. The bank is actively working to integrate the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its entrepreneurial initiatives.
