Private investment is set to take a stake in MAS Fès, one of Morocco’s best-known football clubs, in a move that reflects wider changes in how football teams in the country are run and funded.

B.Invest Holding SARL, part of the Bouzoubaa Group, plans to invest in Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès through its professional company, MAS SA. The deal would bring private money into the club’s day-to-day operations.

The plan would change how the club is managed. Instead of the association running things alone, control would be shared with B.Invest Holding. The private group would help with funding and management, while the original association would still be involved.

The move is part of a wider push in Moroccan football and the top division, the Botola Pro, to bring in private investors and improve how clubs are run. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has been encouraging clubs to become companies so they can be more open and better managed.

The idea behind the change is simple. Clubs want less reliance on public money and ticket sales, and more income from investors, sponsors and business deals. Turning clubs into companies is meant to help with that.

Other big clubs like Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca have already started similar changes as they try to stay competitive in Morocco and in African competitions.

MAS Fès is one of the country’s historic clubs, with several league titles and a win in the CAF Confederations Cup. But like many teams in Morocco, it has faced financial problems over the years.

Supporters of the deal say the new investment could help the club pay off debts, improve planning and invest more in players and facilities. It is also expected to bring more structure to how money is managed.
