On October 14, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Casablanca Stock Exchange convened to officially appoint Brahim Benjelloun-Touimi as the new Chairman of the Board for a two-year term. He succeeds Kamal Mokdad, whose tenure has come to an end.

Kamal Mokdad has held the position since June 18, 2020. Under his leadership, the Casablanca Stock Exchange saw significant growth and transformation. The Board expressed its gratitude for his contributions to the stock market’s strategic development during his time as Chairman. Mokdad will continue to serve as a board member, representing Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP).

The Board’s decision to appoint Brahim Benjelloun-Touimi as the new Chairman reflects the need for continuity and expertise in leading Morocco’s primary financial market into its next phase of growth.

Benjelloun-Touimi is a highly experienced figure in the financial sector. A PhD holder in Money, Finance, and Banking from the University of Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne, he serves as the Deputy CEO of BANK OF AFRICA and is a board member of several European banking entities within the group. He also holds various leadership positions in Morocco, chairing or sitting on the boards of companies involved in investment banking, specialized financial services, insurance (RMA), and the group’s holding company, O Capital Group.

In addition to his corporate roles, Benjelloun-Touimi is deeply committed to social causes, serving as a board member of the BMCE BANK Foundation for education and environmental preservation, as well as the Othman Benjelloun Foundation. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Proparco, a French development finance institution, and has been a member of the Casablanca Stock Exchange board prior to his appointment as Chairman.

The Board of Directors expressed confidence in Benjelloun-Touimi’s ability to steer the Casablanca Stock Exchange towards achieving its long-term goals and ambitions.
