Moroccan customers buying a Peugeot, Citroën or Fiat may soon be able to arrange their financing directly through Stellantis after the carmaker officially launched its new financing arm in the country. AXA Crédit Maroc has changed its name to Stellantis Salaf Maroc following its acquisition by FIDIS S.p.A., Stellantis’ financial services company, in September 2025.

The move gives Stellantis its own vehicle financing business in Morocco, allowing the group to offer loans and other services alongside the sale of its vehicles.

Stellantis Salaf Maroc will provide financing for vehicles sold under the group’s brands, including Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, Opel and Jeep. Customers will also be able to access services such as insurance and maintenance contracts through Stellantis dealerships.

The company said existing AXA Crédit Maroc customers would not be affected, with all current loans continuing under the same terms and conditions.

The launch comes as Morocco’s car market continues to grow. More than 161,000 new vehicles were sold in the country in 2024, with more than half purchased through credit or leasing schemes.

Lionel Piquer has been appointed Chief Executive of Stellantis Salaf Maroc. He will oversee the company’s growth under the supervision of Andrea Faina, Chief Executive of FIDIS S.p.A. and Head of Stellantis Financial Services for Africa, China and the Middle East.

“Our ambition is to offer customers simple, competitive financing solutions tailored to their needs,” Mr Piquer said.

He added that the company wants to make it easier for people in Morocco to access mobility while continuing to grow its personal loan business.

Yves Peyrot Des Gachons, Chief Executive of Stellantis Morocco, said the new company was “a strategic building block” for the group’s development in the country.

He said the addition of financial services would strengthen Stellantis’ operations in Morocco, support the growth of its brands and make the customer experience simpler.

The launch adds financing to Stellantis’ growing presence in Morocco, where the group already has activities in engineering, manufacturing, sales and services.

Stellantis recently invested €300m to double production capacity at its Kenitra plant to 400,000 vehicles a year as it expands its operations in the country.

The company is aiming to capture more than 22% of the Africa and Middle East market by 2030 under its Dare Forward 2030 strategy.
