The Canada-Morocco Economic Chamber has appointed Badr Kassiri and Mohamed Amine Boufalja to lead its Industry Committee. Kassiri will serve as Co-Director for Morocco, while Boufalja will be Co-Director for Canada.
The chamber said the appointments will help bring business skills, expertise and networks together to support economic and institutional cooperation between the two countries.
“This appointment aligns fully with the vision of the CEMC, namely putting skills, expertise, and networks at the service of sustainable economic and institutional cooperation between Morocco and Canada,” the CEMC said.
“The Industry Committee aims to contribute to the creation of structural bridges between the industrial, institutional, and economic ecosystems of both countries.”
Kassiri is an industrial entrepreneur and executive. Boufalja is an expert in ecosystems and industrial strategy.
The Canada-Morocco Economic Chamber is a non-profit organisation created in 2018 to support trade, investment and business partnerships between the two countries.
Trade between Canada and Morocco usually exceeds C$1bn a year.
Canada mainly exports cereals, aircraft parts and mining technology to Morocco. Moroccan exports to Canada include fertilisers, agricultural products and textiles.
The chamber works on several sectors, including aerospace, automotive, clean energy, agribusiness and mining.
It also organises trade missions, business meetings and economic forums. The organisation helps Canadian companies enter African markets through Morocco and the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.
The chamber offers market research and advice on regulations to companies from both countries looking to expand across the Atlantic.
Its Industry, Tech and Green Energy committees also organise business-to-business meetings.
Annual forums and trade delegations connect business leaders from cities such as Casablanca, Tangier Tech, Montreal and Toronto.
