ALSA Bus will extend evening bus services on 14 major routes in Casablanca from 20 April, with some last departures now running as late as 10pm.
The change affects some of the city’s busiest lines. Routes L005, L013, L023, L033, L050, L067 and L902 will now run until around 10pm. Other lines, including L019, L022, L043 and L084, will finish at 9.45pm. L082 will stop at 9.55pm, while L062 and L307 will end earlier at 9.30pm.
ALSA said the decision is based on rising demand for buses in the evening, as people in Casablanca continue working, studying and travelling well after standard rush hour. The aim is to make it easier for passengers to get around and reduce dependence on taxis or private cars.
ALSA runs the city’s bus network under the Casabus system, which it has managed since 2019. Since taking over, the company has introduced newer buses with GPS tracking, cameras and better access for people with reduced mobility.
The changes are also meant to better connect buses with other public transport, including the Casablanca Tramway and the Busway lines, which serve main city routes.
Casablanca’s transport needs have grown as the city’s economy expands, with many workers in shops, services and industry finishing late shifts and needing transport after 8pm.
Officials say transport planning is increasingly guided by passenger data showing where and when demand is highest, rather than fixed timetables alone.
There are also ongoing discussions about shifting more buses to electric power in future, as Casablanca looks to cut emissions and modernise its fleet ahead of major international events.
