Centrale Danone has appointed Imad Bakkali as its new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, with the change taking effect on July 1. He will replace Hervé Barrere, who is stepping down for family reasons after nine years with the Danone Group.

The company said Bakkali has more than 23 years of experience in the consumer goods industry, including roles at Centrale Danone and other large companies.

Centrale Danone said his appointment will help continue the company’s current strategy, which focuses on staying close to customers, improving business performance and supporting dairy farmers across Morocco.

“I am honored to take the lead at Centrale Danone and thank the Danone Group for its confidence,” Bakkali said.

“Together with all our teams, we will continue our commitment to serving Moroccan consumers, clients, and partner farmers.

“Our ambition is to continue strengthening the sustainable performance of the company while remaining faithful to our mission: bringing health through food to as many people as possible.”

The company also thanked Barrere for his contribution to its growth in Morocco and other African markets during his time as CEO.

Centrale Danone said the Danone Group remains confident about the future of the Moroccan market.

One of Morocco’s biggest food companies, Centrale Danone works with a large network of dairy farmers, suppliers and distributors across the country. The company says it has played a key role in developing Morocco’s dairy sector for decades while providing dairy products to consumers nationwide.
