CIH Bank has received an award from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for its work in helping companies invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy. The award was presented at the EBRD’s GEFF Awards ceremony. It recognised the partnership between CIH Bank and the EBRD under the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).
CIH Bank ran its GREEN DEV financing solution from 2022 to 2025. The scheme helped industrial and commercial companies finance energy efficiency projects and renewable energy systems.
Companies using the scheme received a free energy audit, technical support and grants covering between 10% and 15% of the amount financed.
BIOSEC, a company financed through CIH Bank, won the award for the best energy efficiency project at the ceremony.
CIH Bank also plans to join the third GEFF financing line and MidGEFF. Both programmes are due to start in 2027.
The new programmes will support large companies and small and medium-sized businesses working to improve sustainable production and consumption.
The GEFF programmes combine loans through local banks with grants and technical advice. The aim is to make it easier for businesses to invest in cleaner energy, use less energy and improve their production processes.
The partnership also gives businesses access to international green finance through the EBRD and local financial institutions.
The 2022-2025 GREEN DEV programme focused on industrial and commercial companies, while the planned 2027 programmes will extend support to both larger businesses and SMEs.
