COVID-19.. Morocco Reports 6,513 New Cases in Past 24 Hours

Morocco recorded 6,513 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, while 9,761 COVID-19 patients have recovered within the same period of time, the ministry of Health said Saturday.

The number of people who received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose has reached 17,261,839 while 12,874,716 people are now fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd doses), the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin.

The new figure brings to 806,288 the total number of cases since the first case was reported in Morocco back in March 2020.

The number of people who have recovered rose to 716,904, i.e. a recovery rate of 88.9%.

The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1,704), Casablanca-Settat (1,316), the Oriental (754), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (675), Marrakech-Safi (550), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (429), Souss-Massa (400), Draa-Tafilalet (207), Fez-Meknes (185), Guelmim-Oued Noun (120), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (102) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (71). As for deaths, their total number rose to 11,677 (fatality rate of 1.4%), with 90 new fatalities recorded in the regions of the Oriental (15), Marrakech-Safi (14), Casablanca-Settat (12),Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (12), Souss-Massa (10), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (9), Fez-Meknes (5), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (4), Guelmim-Oued Noun (4), Draa-Tafilalet (2) and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (3).

The number of active cases stands at 77,707 while that of severe or critical cases has reached 2,458, the ministry added.
