Audi overtakes BMW and Mercedes in Moroccan premium car market

New car sales in Morocco reached 82,286 units by the end of June 2024, reflecting a 1.06% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).

Breaking down the segments, new registrations of passenger vehicles (PV) declined by 0.24% to 74,048 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles (LCV) saw a significant increase of 14.54%, totaling 8,238 units, as per AIVAM’s monthly statistics.

In the PV segment, the brand Dacia leads with a market share of 26.65%, accounting for 19,732 new registrations since the beginning of the year. Renault follows with 11,657 units sold (15.74% market share), and Hyundai with 5,933 units (8.01% market share).

For light commercial vehicles (LCV), Renault dominates with 2,040 units sold, capturing a 24.76% market share. Ford follows with 1,138 units (13.81% market share), and DFSK with 963 units (11.69% market share).

In the premium segment, Audi achieved a market share of 3.04% with 2,252 cars sold, ahead of BMW (2.78% market share with 2,055 units) and Mercedes-Benz (2.03% market share with 1,505 units).

Porsche sold 354 units since the beginning of 2024, while Jaguar’s sales decreased by 15%, with 51 cars sold.

For June 2024 alone, sales statistics show 15,855 units sold in the PV segment and 1,513 in the LCV segment, totaling 17,368 vehicles. This represents a slight decrease of 0.15% compared to June 2023.
