Danish investment firm A.P. Moller Capital has raised more than 2.2bn dirhams to invest in Morocco’s transport and logistics sector.
Its local arm, APM Capital Morocco, said on 18 February it had completed a Morocco-only fund with 1.64bn dirhams in commitments. An extra 600m dirhams from its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II pushes the total amount available to 2.24bn dirhams.
The money will be used to invest in Moroccan companies working in areas such as international delivery services, outsourced logistics (known as 3PL), air cargo handling and storage facilities, including temperature-controlled warehouses.
The fund was launched as part of an initiative led by the Fonds Mohammed VI pour l’Investissement, with support from Moroccan and international institutional investors. The goal is to boost investment, help companies grow and create jobs in a sector seen as key to Morocco’s economy.
The Casablanca-based management company is led by Ghislane Guedira, a former chief financial officer of OCP, who joined in 2024 to lead the group’s work in Morocco. The company has been approved by the country’s capital markets regulator and focuses on infrastructure projects, especially in logistics, ports and energy.
Chief executive Kim Fejfer said Morocco is a priority market for the group, pointing to steady economic growth, more companies moving production closer to Europe and continued investment in logistics infrastructure. He said the fund would use the group’s experience to help local firms expand and modernise.
The group is also involved in the Chbika green hydrogen project with TotalEnergies and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
The wider A.P. Moller Group is already a major player in Morocco’s port sector. Through APM Terminals Tangier, it has operated the TC1 terminal at Tanger Med since 2007. Its other unit, APM Terminals MedPort Tangier, has run the automated TC4 terminal since 2019.
Together, the two terminals can handle up to eight million containers a year, helping make Tanger Med the largest port in the Mediterranean and a major global shipping hub.
