Details of the new Moroccan health facility

The new Ibn Sina Hospital in Rabat, for which construction work was launched on Thursday by King Mohammed VI, is a new-generation health care structure that is modern in its architecture, in the quality of care it will provide and in the integration of new state-of-the-art technologies.

Mobilizing an investment of more than 6 billion dirhams, the future hospital, which will be built on a plot of 11.4 ha, asserts itself as a health structure of reference, with its main tower of 151 m (R+33), the tower of the National League against Cardiovascular Diseases in R+I0, and the building forming the podium of the project.

The future Hospital Ibn Sina, whose construction is scheduled within 48 months, will be equipped with :

– A hospitalization pole,

– Intensive care units,

– Day hospitals,

– Outpatient services, exploration, emergencies and follow-up care and rehabilitation,

– Resuscitation units,

– A unit of the big burns,

– A service of the serious respiratory diseases,

– A hemodialysis center,

– Technical platforms, administrative logistics, medical logistics, hotel logistics and technical logistics.

The new Ibn Sina Hospital will also have

– 31 operating rooms (27 organized in 3 modules and 4 rooms at the National League for the Fight against Cardiovascular Diseases),

– 39 rooms of functional explorations,

– 80 outpatient rooms,

– 15 endoscopy rooms,

– 25 rooms for conventional radiology, cross-sectional imaging and ultrasound.

– 7 angiography, coronary angiography, rhythmology and catheterization rooms,

– 3 hyperbaric oxygen therapy rooms,

– 16 hemodialysis boxes and a peritoneal dialysis room,

– 24 sampling boxes of all types,

– 41 care, follow-up and rehabilitation rooms,

– 29 research and teaching rooms.

It will have a capacity of 1,044 beds, divided between :

– 670 beds for conventional hospitalization,

– 148 beds for intensive care units (30 beds for the isolation of patients with severe respiratory diseases)

– 101 beds in day hospitals,

– 12 beds in the burn unit,

– 8 beds in the Nuclear Medicine Unit,

– 15 beds in the Emergency Unit (very short term hospitalization),

– 90 beds at the National League against Cardiovascular Diseases.

The project also provides for the construction of a helipad, a parking lot with a capacity of 1,300 parking spaces, and green spaces for the recuperation and relaxation of convalescent patients. It will integrate in its design the best practices of eco-construction as well as new generation technologies (solar filters, photovoltaic panels, natural ventilation, recovery of rainwater and its use in watering the green spaces of the hospital) allowing a better energy efficiency, in line with Morocco’s commitments to sustainable development.
