German telecoms company Deutsche Telekom has won the rights to show all 104 matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Every game will be available on the company’s paid streaming platform, MagentaTV. Telekom also owns the full German rights to the 2026 World Cup.

The 2030 tournament will be held in Morocco, Spain and Portugal. Three opening matches will also be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to celebrate 100 years since the first World Cup in 1930.

The tournament will feature 48 teams and 104 matches. FIFA expanded the competition from 32 teams and 64 matches ahead of the 2026 edition.

Telekom is expected to keep many matches exclusive to MagentaTV but could again sell some broadcasting rights to public broadcasters ARD and ZDF.

The company followed the same approach for the 2026 World Cup. It sub-licensed part of its rights package to ARD and ZDF, while keeping 44 matches exclusive to MagentaTV, including two quarter-finals.

German law requires certain major sporting events, including Germany’s matches, the opening game and the final, to be shown on free-to-air television. A new sub-licensing deal would allow ARD and ZDF to broadcast those matches while MagentaTV keeps exclusive rights to the rest.

ARD and ZDF had also shown interest in the 2030 rights but have not commented on Telekom’s agreement with FIFA.

Telekom also owns the full German rights to Euro 2028. It previously showed Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 on MagentaTV, alongside sub-licensing agreements with ARD and ZDF.

Telekom’s Head of TV, Arnim Butzen, said: “Many matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be shown exclusively on MagentaTV.”

He added: “Our goal is to establish MagentaTV as one of Germany’s leading destinations for international football.”
