A new joint venture is in the works between Moroccan agribusiness Domaine El Bassatine SA and Chilean investment firm Sociedad De Inversiones San Marcos Limitada. The project aims to launch a new company, Frutivar SA, focused on the cultivation and commercialization of high-value agricultural plants.

Frutivar SA, which would be headquartered in Morocco, is set to specialize in developing and marketing specific varieties of blueberries and raspberries. Beyond simple production, the venture will cover the full agricultural cycle—ranging from plant propagation and acclimatization to breeding and distribution—reflecting a strong focus on agricultural innovation and sustainability.

Domaine El Bassatine SA, based in Rabat, brings extensive experience in agronomic research and plant production. The company operates with its own research and development laboratory and has built a reputation in Morocco’s agricultural sector for supplying high-quality plant materials.

San Marcos, headquartered in Hijuelas, Chile, is known for its international investment operations. Its decision to co-found Frutivar SA highlights a growing interest in Morocco’s agricultural potential, particularly in projects that blend research, development, and long-term commercial strategy.

Together, these two companies aim to establish Frutivar SA as a regional leader in premium fruit varieties, with an emphasis on innovation, quality, and sustainability in Moroccan agriculture.
