French Travel Planet expands into Morocco to target Africa and Middle East

Travel Planet, a French company specializing in business travel and software development, has announced the opening of a new subsidiary in Morocco. This marks the company’s second international expansion, following its entry into the UK market. By establishing a presence in the Kingdom, Travel Planet aims to extend its reach across Africa and the Middle East.

Cofounded by Betty Seroussi, Travel Planet is known for managing business trips for medium and large enterprises. The company is no stranger to Morocco, having previously collaborated with a Canadian partner that operated a local call center handling customer service. However, after that center was acquired by a major corporation, Seroussi decided to establish a fully owned Moroccan subsidiary as part of her strategy to grow the company internationally.

Travel Planet’s newly launched Moroccan office is staffed by a team of former employees familiar with the company’s rigorous service standards. Currently, ten employees manage customer experience for the new branch, which aligns with the parent company’s daily operations, handling around 5,000 bookings and attracting 50,000 visitors across its platforms. The company plans to expand its Moroccan team by hiring additional staff before the end of 2024.

Headquartered in Sophia Antipolis, near Nice, Travel Planet has seen impressive growth in recent years. The company’s revenue surged from 35 million euros in 2020 to 120 million euros in 2023. Shortly after the opening of its Moroccan office, Travel Planet hosted its eighth annual convention in Marrakech, celebrating the company’s ten-year anniversary. The event brought together staff from the UK, France, and Morocco. The last convention took place in the UK in 2019, marking the opening of Travel Planet’s British subsidiary, which now contributes 25% of the company’s overall revenue.

The Moroccan market holds strategic importance for Travel Planet’s expansion plans. From its base in Morocco, the company intends to explore new opportunities across Africa and the Middle East, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Beyond its core business as a travel agency, Travel Planet also aims to grow as a technology provider, similar to its operations in France, where it has secured five contracts with the French national railway, SNCF.

A key element of Travel Planet’s success is its internal technology platform, which streamlines group bookings for both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) clients. In Morocco, the company has already identified promising opportunities to collaborate with major national entities, including Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF).

Through its comprehensive platform, Travel Planet offers a wide range of services for corporate clients, including travel arrangements, accommodations, airport transfers, and even meeting room bookings. The company’s goal is to provide a seamless experience for business travelers, ensuring that all aspects of their trips are professionally managed and executed.

With its sights set on further international growth, Travel Planet’s expansion into Morocco signals a bold step towards establishing itself as a leading travel and tech solutions provider in both Africa and the Middle East.
