Gabon has put itself at the centre of African trade and investment this week, hosting the 44th multisector mission of the Club Afrique Développement (CAD) from Attijariwafa Bank.
The event, held under the theme “Gabon, land of opportunities”, is led by Vice-President Alexandre Barro Chambrier and brought together more than 300 business and government leaders from 11 African countries.
Delegations came from Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Chad and Tunisia, supported by the bank’s local branches. Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal’s groups were led by Mohamed El Ghazi and Rachid El Bouzidi, respectively.
A Central African Investment Market gave participants a closer look at opportunities in the CEMAC region, with the National Investment Promotion Agency, the GEZ Nkok Special Economic Zone, UGB, Crédit du Congo, SCB Cameroun and Attijari Bank Tchad all involved.
Panels and discussions put into display trade and investment prospects, while over 200 business-to-business meetings explored sectors from agribusiness and timber to energy and construction.
The mission wrapped up with visits to the GEZ Nkok industrial park, known for sustainable timber, and the Baie des Rois waterfront project, which mixes business, tourism and leisure.
Since 2010, the Club Afrique Développement has helped over 24,000 African businesses connect and form partnerships, opening the way for more than 33,000 meetings.
