GAC has officially started selling its cars in Morocco, bringing petrol, hybrid and fully electric models to the market through local distributor M-Automotiv. The Chinese carmaker held its official launch in Casablanca on 24 September 2026 at Casablanca Finance City. The event marks the end of an initial pre-launch phase and the start of full commercial operations. M-Automotiv is GAC’s exclusive importer and distributor in Morocco. The company has started sales in Casablanca and Tangier and plans to open outlets in Rabat, El Jadida and Agadir.

GAC is entering the market with three brands. GAC will offer mainstream cars and SUVs, AION will focus on electric vehicles, while HYPTEC will target the premium electric segment.

Prices for some of the main models have also been announced. The HYPTEC HT electric SUV costs 439,900 DH. The GAC GN8 plug-in hybrid MPV is priced at 549,900 DH. The HYPTEC Hyper SSR, the most expensive model in the launch range, costs 1.69m DH.

The HYPTEC HT has 340 horsepower and a claimed range of 620km under the NEDC test cycle. It comes with rear gullwing doors, Nappa leather and a 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound system.

The seven-seat GAC GN8 produces 373 horsepower and 630Nm of torque. Its claimed combined WLTC range is up to 1,032km. The MPV also has massaging Business Class seats and SDC electromagnetic variable suspension.

The HYPTEC Hyper SSR is the performance model in the range. It has three electric motors and produces 1,224 horsepower. GAC says it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 1.9 seconds. The car has a carbon-fibre body and a cockpit inspired by Formula 1 cars.

The range also includes the GAC EMZOOM, a turbocharged SUV with 177 horsepower; the GAC EMKOO, a self-charging hybrid with 235 horsepower; and the GAC S7, a plug-in hybrid with up to 500 horsepower and a 720-litre boot.

M-Automotiv also showed the AirCab, GAC’s first flying-car concept, as part of the launch.

The company is building an after-sales network alongside its sales operations. Dedicated GAC workshops and M-Service centres will provide technical support, spare parts and customer services in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, El Jadida, Fès and Oujda.

M-Automotiv chief executive Souhail Houmaini said the launch responds to changes in what Moroccan consumers are looking for, including build quality, smart connectivity and a choice between petrol, hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

GAC Group was founded in 1997 and is one of China’s major carmakers. It has partnerships with international automotive companies and has developed its own electric vehicles and smart-cockpit technology.

GAC and M-Automotiv first announced their partnership in Casablanca on 8 July 2026. The agreement was followed by the opening of the first GAC retail locations in Casablanca and Tangier.

The launch comes as more Chinese and other Asian car brands enter the Moroccan market, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles. GAC plans to use Morocco as a base for further expansion across North Africa.
