Geely Maroc, the automotive arm of Bamotors, is starting 2025 on a high note with the introduction of the Cityray, a stylish SUV poised to make waves in the competitive C-segment. Combining sleek design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the Cityray reflects Geely’s ambitions to strengthen its foothold in Morocco’s automotive market.
During a press conference marking the Cityray’s launch, Sébastien Nicolas, Managing Director of Geely Maroc, shared an optimistic review of 2024. “We’ve solidified our position as a key player in Morocco’s automotive sector. Last year, we sold 521 vehicles, placing us among the top three Chinese car brands in the Kingdom,” he stated.
This success is built on several pillars: a motivated team, an appealing product lineup, and an expanding distribution network. Geely currently operates five sales points and ten service centers across Morocco, with plans to open four additional dealerships in 2025. Alongside the Cityray, the brand intends to launch four new models in the coming year, further diversifying its offerings.
Designed to stand out in the C-segment, the Cityray features a sleek, contemporary exterior influenced by Geely’s signature design language. Sporting details such as a sporty spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and distinctive LED lighting, the SUV exudes a dynamic and modern personality.
Inside, the Cityray offers a spacious and ergonomic cabin crafted for comfort. High-quality materials and an array of advanced technological features aim to enhance the driving experience. Standard equipment includes a 13.2-inch HD touchscreen, customizable ambient lighting with 72 colors, and advanced safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and 360° cameras.
The Cityray is available in three trims: Comfort, Premium, and Sport+. Even the entry-level Comfort version comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and parking sensors. Higher trims add features such as a panoramic sunroof and electrically adjustable seats, offering a premium experience.
Under the hood, the Cityray is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 174 horsepower. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the SUV offers four driving modes—Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Intelligent—allowing drivers to tailor performance to their preferences.
The starting price for the Comfort trim is set at 249,900 MAD, positioning the Cityray as a competitively priced offering in Morocco’s SUV market. With this launch, Geely Maroc aims to attract a discerning customer base seeking modernity, reliability, and value.
Geely Maroc’s steady growth in 2024 is a testament to its strategic vision. The introduction of the Cityray and plans for new dealerships and models underline the brand’s commitment to becoming a prominent player in Morocco’s automotive landscape. With a focus on innovation and affordability, Geely is well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of Moroccan consumers.
