Glovo Maroc, the on-demand delivery platform, has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new headquarters in Casablanca. The event, attended by Oscar Pierre, Glovo’s CEO and co-founder, along with key platform partners, coincided with the company’s sixth anniversary in Morocco. During the ceremony, Glovo presented a detailed report titled “The Yellow Effect,” produced by international research firm Statista, showcasing the platform’s economic and social contributions to Morocco.
In a statement, Hamza Naciri Bennani, General Manager of Glovo Maroc, highlighted the achievements over the past six years: “These years have been filled with success, particularly in digital transformation and supporting Moroccan businesses. We have grown alongside Moroccans, continuously innovating to meet their needs and creating a lasting economic and social impact within our ecosystem.”
Bennani further emphasized Glovo’s commitment to building on these foundations in the coming years by strengthening partnerships and exploring new opportunities to boost the local ecosystem. Since its launch in Morocco, Glovo has become a key player in the country’s digital transformation, significantly influencing consumer habits and opening new avenues for growth and inclusion in the local economy.
The event also featured the unveiling of “The Yellow Effect,” a report that details Glovo’s contributions to the Moroccan economy. According to the report, in 2023 alone, Glovo and its partners generated an economic value of 2.64 billion dirhams through the platform. This economic activity led to the creation of 8,622 full-time equivalent jobs in Morocco, playing a vital role in reducing the informal economy and promoting financial inclusion across sectors such as commerce, hospitality, agriculture, and industry.
Glovo currently supports over 5,500 couriers across the country, offering them flexible income opportunities along with social benefits, including individual insurance, illness bonuses, and access to training and development programs.
A Statista study of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Morocco’s retail and hospitality sectors revealed that 80% of respondents credited their partnership with Glovo as crucial to their success. The majority reported that the platform had a significant positive impact on their sales and growth.
Glovo also showcased its commitment to social responsibility. The company has harnessed its technological capabilities for various social causes, including raising over 2 million dirhams for relief efforts following the tragic Al Haouz earthquake through its “Donation Bubble” initiative. Additionally, Glovo has supported organizations like SOS Children’s Villages, Jood, and La Banque Alimentaire through its charitable campaigns during Ramadan.
Beyond its social initiatives, Glovo has contributed to the growth of the Moroccan startup ecosystem. Through its “Tech Catalyst” program, the platform recently provided eight Moroccan startups with a tailored immersion experience at Glovo’s headquarters in Barcelona, offering them valuable exposure and growth opportunities.
