A new push to modernise Morocco’s healthcare system was announced in Casablanca as officials gathered at the first GITEX Future Health Africa.
Officials presented several digital tools designed to improve care and transparency. These include a national digital health map for planning, the TARKHIS platform to authorise medicines, and a new online system to handle patient complaints.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MSPS) and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) agreed to speed up the country’s digital health transformation. The meeting was chaired by Health Minister Amine Tehraoui and CDG Director General Khalid Safir. The initiative follows the Royal Directives of King Mohammed VI, which place health reform at the centre of universal social protection.

Amine Tehraoui said: “This meeting constitutes an important step in the process of accelerating the transformation of the health system… ensuring the improvement of the quality of health services and bringing them closer to citizens”.
Khalid Safir said: “Support structuring projects related to digital transformation and the modernisation of health infrastructure… generating a direct and tangible impact on the quality of services rendered to citizens”.
A study for a new digital laboratory was also presented. The hub aims to support local innovation in health technology and strengthen Morocco’s digital independence.
The meeting ended with the signing of several agreements to formalise future cooperation. One partnership will upgrade and expand the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) nationwide to improve access to urgent care across all regions.
