GPC-Gharb Papier et Carton, a subsidiary of Ynna, is continuing its expansion with the launch of its 8th production unit in Meknès, located in the Agropolis industrial zone. This new facility strengthens GPC’s position as a key player in Morocco’s packaging industry.
This 180 million dirham investment will bolster GPC’s standing as a national leader in the paper and corrugated cardboard industry, the company stated in a press release.
The cutting-edge facility will feature state-of-the-art High Graphic 7-color printing machines, a first in Morocco. It will focus on transforming paper and corrugated cardboard, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of corrugated cardboard and 10,000 tons of processed paper products, such as cores, edge protectors, Kraft rolls, newsprint, and cut Manila paper.
Strategically positioned to meet the rising demand in the agricultural sector (especially for rosaceous fruits), industrial sectors (textiles, manufacturing, food processing), and the automobile sector, this new unit will primarily serve the Fès-Meknès region and the Oriental region, including Oujda and Nador.
“This investment is a significant milestone in our growth strategy as we celebrate our 32nd anniversary,” said Mounir El Bari, General Manager of GPC, as quoted in the press release. He emphasized that the new facility reaffirms GPC and Ynna’s commitment to promoting Made in Morocco, aligning with the country’s industrial sovereignty strategy, while actively contributing to the economic transformation of the regions they serve.
El Bari also expressed pride in the company’s role in fostering a sustainable Moroccan industry. The new “green” unit will produce over 40% of its total energy needs through solar power, supporting key sectors of the Moroccan economy.
The project will also create over 100 jobs, boosting local economic development. GPC underscored that this new plant will be a crucial asset in driving the growth of the Fès-Meknès region and supporting its burgeoning industries.
