The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has launched a nationwide campaign to encourage people to eat healthier and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. The campaign carries the slogan “Eat Smart. Live Well. Choose Variety. Keep It Balanced.” It encourages people to eat a balanced diet by choosing a variety of foods, eating the right portions and using healthier cooking methods.

The campaign aims to give people simple and reliable information about the body’s nutritional needs. It highlights the importance of a varied diet in helping prevent diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease.

The ministry will distribute videos, educational guides and other awareness materials across the country. The content has been adapted for different age groups and people with different health needs.

A team of health and nutrition experts will also take part in the campaign by sharing scientific information through national media in Arabic, French, English and Spanish.

The experts include Prof. Amina Barakat, paediatrician, nutritionist and director of Rabat Children’s Hospital; Prof. Nada Benajiba, nutrition researcher; Prof. Jamal Belkhadir, president of the Moroccan League Against Diabetes; Prof. Asma Chadli, head of endocrinology at Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca; Prof. Hinde Iraqi, endocrinologist and nutritionist at Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat; and Hasnae Gamih, head of the National Nutrition Programme.

The ministry is calling on public institutions, healthcare professionals, media organisations and civil society groups to support the campaign and promote healthy eating across the country.
