On January 16, 2026, IM MEDICARE officially opened a new syringe manufacturing facility in Sidi Bou Othmane, located in Morocco’s Safi–Marrakech region. Specializing in hypodermic and vaccination syringes, the factory represents an 85 million dirham investment and is expected to generate 70 direct jobs.

Strategically positioned within the region’s industrial park, the facility is designed to produce up to 450 million syringes annually. Its output will serve Morocco’s domestic healthcare needs while also targeting export opportunities across the African continent, aligning with the country’s growing ambitions in the medical device sector.

During the inauguration, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, praised the project as a clear example of how local companies are moving into high-value industries. He highlighted the plant’s role in advancing the Kingdom’s goals for healthcare sovereignty and local production capacity.

This development adds momentum to a rapidly expanding sector. The national medical devices industry now includes 1,378 direct jobs, cumulative investments totaling 376 million dirhams, an annual turnover of 903 million dirhams, and a value-added rate of 46%.

IM MEDICARE was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly gained recognition for its innovation. In 2025, the company earned a World Health Organization certification for its 0.5 ml auto-disable syringe model, “Early Activation.” This certification has opened doors for IM MEDICARE to compete in major global vaccination tenders, including those from international health organizations.
