Between June 5 and August 15, approximately 1.9 million travelers and 447,000 vehicles transited through Moroccan ports as part of the “Marhaba 2024” operation, according to a statement released Friday by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
The ministry reported that the transit operation is proceeding smoothly, with Moroccan ports welcoming around 1.33 million passengers and 317,000 vehicles entering the Kingdom. Meanwhile, about 570,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles have departed for Europe from these ports.
The peak of incoming traffic was recorded on August 3 and 4, with over 80,000 passengers and 20,000 vehicles passing through in just two days, highlighting the high volume of travelers during this period.
To ensure the success of this operation, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics has mobilized the necessary technical and logistical resources. This includes ensuring sufficient transport capacity to meet the needs of Moroccans living abroad, diversifying maritime routes, maintaining high service quality on board ships, and monitoring crossing tariffs.
Regarding the return phase, the ministry is advising travelers planning to return to their countries of residence to book their tickets in advance, confirming both the date and time of travel for all maritime lines, including the “Tanger Med – Algeciras” and “Tanger Ville – Tarifa” routes.
Travelers who need to change the date or time on their ticket are encouraged to contact their maritime company remotely before arriving at the port to avoid potential congestion.
