Marrakech-Menara airport experiences 28% passenger increase in early 2024

In the first five months of 2024, Marrakech-Menara International Airport has seen a significant surge in passenger numbers, recording a 28% increase compared to the same period in 2023. According to a statement from the National Airports Office (ONDA), the airport welcomed approximately 3,747,197 travelers by the end of May 2024, up from 2,920,724 in the previous year.

May 2024 alone saw a remarkable 34% growth in air traffic compared to May 2023. Specifically, the airport handled 835,971 passengers last month, a substantial rise from the 624,331 passengers in May of the previous year.

In terms of airport activity in May, Marrakech-Menara accounted for 26% of the total air traffic, ranking just behind Mohammed V Airport, which had a 33% share, and ahead of Agadir Al Massira Airport at 9%.

Across all Moroccan airports, there were 20,351 flights in May 2024, both arrivals and departures, marking a 17% increase compared to May 2023.

During the first five months of 2024, Moroccan airports collectively recorded a commercial traffic volume of 12,353,496 passengers, a 19% rise from the same period in 2023. In May 2024 alone, the commercial traffic volume reached 2,827,570 passengers, representing a significant 20% increase over May 2023.

This consistent growth reflects the robust recovery and expansion of air travel in Morocco, with Marrakech-Menara International Airport leading the charge in accommodating increasing numbers of travelers.
