Moroccan caftans shine in Paris fashion extravaganza

Three renowned Moroccan haute couture houses delivered an unforgettable show in Paris on Sunday night, highlighting the extraordinary craftsmanship of artisans who have elevated the Caftan, a symbol of Morocco’s rich and authentic heritage.

The Moroccan Caftan fashion show, featuring designs by Amina Benzekri Benrahal, L’Altière Maison de Couture, and Hind Berrada, was the highlight of the Oriental Fashion Show. This prestigious event, held at a grand palace in the French capital, was organized by Hind Joudar, an expert in Oriental fashion.

“Through this fashion show, I wanted to showcase both the originality and authenticity of the Moroccan Caftan, as well as its universal appeal by presenting it alongside creations from countries steeped in Oriental culture such as Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Tunisia,” said Joudar, founder of the “Route de la Soie et d’Al Andalus” association, which promotes traditional Oriental attire and has a membership of over a hundred designers.

“This event comes just days after we launched the first fashion week in Tangier, aiming to enhance the global visibility of the Moroccan Caftan and promote national talent. The Paris edition, now in its 13th year, is part of this effort to highlight this precious heritage,” she emphasized.

“The Moroccan Caftan is my culture, my connection to my country, its history, traditions, and ancient wealth. These intangible elements are essential to strengthening our ties with our homeland and showcasing our identity,” she added.

Under the theme “Silk Road,” the Oriental Fashion Show honored this national heritage symbol through stunning works of art that reflect the artisans’ exceptional skills.

The three Moroccan fashion houses competed in beauty and creativity, offering unique interpretations of their designs by blending modern touches with this age-old heritage, while celebrating the timeless elegance and beauty of the Caftan.

A true beacon in the fashion world, the Oriental Fashion Show gathers designers and creators from all over the globe each year. According to its organizers, it aims to serve as a bridge between East and West, celebrating the diversity and fusion of artistic influences.
