Electricity production at the national level increased by 3% by the end of April 2024, following a 1.9% decline in the same period the previous year, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

Conversely, production by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) fell by 9.9%.

Regarding international electricity trade, imported volumes grew by 15.1% in the first four months of 2024, a considerable decrease from the 119.6% increase recorded during the same period last year.

Export volumes also saw an uptick, rising by 17.9%, amid a 3% increase in net called energy volume, following a 3.4% increase the previous year.

Electricity consumption rose modestly by 0.7% by the end of April 2024, after a 6% improvement in the previous year. This included a 10% rise in medium voltage energy sales, a 3% increase in energy sales to distributors, and a 1.9% growth in low voltage energy sales.
