The number of Brazilian tourists visiting Morocco in 2024 rose by 7% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT). A total of 40,277 Brazilian visitors were recorded, up from 37,750 in 2023. While this growth reflects a positive recovery trend, the figures remain 15% below the pre-pandemic peak of 47,113 arrivals in 2019.
This renewed interest in Morocco as a destination has been bolstered, in part, by the resumption of Royal Air Maroc’s direct Casablanca-São Paulo flight on December 7. Despite ongoing challenges such as a stronger dollar and a reduced flight frequency (currently three weekly flights compared to six before the pandemic), the route’s relaunch has contributed to the uptick in Brazilian tourists.
December 2024 was particularly promising, with 3,941 Brazilian arrivals—a staggering 60% increase compared to December 2023, when only 2,461 visitors were recorded.
Morocco’s tourism sector, which is gradually rebuilding after the pandemic’s impact, is benefiting from targeted efforts to reconnect with international markets. The growing numbers of Brazilian tourists hint at a strengthening relationship between the two countries, offering hope for a full return to pre-pandemic levels in the near future.
