Morocco will host the 77th FIFA Electoral Congress in 2027, with Rabat expected to be the venue, according to reports including RMC Sport.
The congress is important because it is where the FIFA president is elected. The current president Gianni Infantino is expected to run again. FIFA rules usually allow three four year terms, but because he first replaced Sepp Blatter mid term, he could remain in office until 2031.
This will be the second time Morocco hosts the FIFA Congress. It previously held the 55th edition in Marrakech in 2005, the first time the event took place in Africa.
Rabat’s role reflects Morocco’s growing influence in football governance. In 2025, FIFA opened its first African regional office in Rabat.
The congress comes as Morocco prepares to co host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
