Morocco has signed a new partnership with engineering company ALTEN Maroc to help train AI talent, support research, and bring more advanced technology into its industries.
The agreement was signed on July 2 by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and ALTEN Maroc.
The partnership is part of Morocco’s Maroc Digital 2030 strategy and the AI Made in Morocco roadmap.
The government wants to create 240,000 digital jobs and add about $10 billion to the economy by 2030. It also plans to train 100,000 people in digital skills every year.
The AI Made in Morocco roadmap aims to train 200,000 graduates in artificial intelligence and help Morocco build its own AI technologies instead of relying on foreign solutions.
The new partnership will focus on four areas.
The first is research. The partners will develop AI tools for predictive maintenance, quality control, industrial optimisation, and advanced simulations.
The second is industry. They will build new technology solutions for the automotive, aerospace, rail, and wider transport sectors by using ALTEN’s global expertise.
The third is testing. The partnership will create technology platforms where companies can test digital twins, prototypes, and other industrial tools before putting them into use.
The fourth is training. Moroccan universities and engineering schools will work with ALTEN to offer programmes in applied AI and advanced engineering.
The Ministry of Higher Education will help adapt university courses to future industry needs. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce will work with local manufacturers, while the Ministry of Digital Transition will lead digital innovation projects.
Minister of Higher Education Azzeddine El Midaoui said, “Closer ties between universities and leading technology companies will improve graduates’ employability in the industries of tomorrow.”
Minister Delegate for Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni said, “Building a strong AI ecosystem creates the foundation for sustainable innovation and technological sovereignty.”
ALTEN Group Chief Executive Cyril Malargé said the company wants to make its operations in Morocco “a hub of excellence for AI and industrial technologies.”
ALTEN has been operating in Morocco since 2008 through ALTEN Delivery Center Maroc. It has offices in Fez, Rabat, Casablanca, and Tétouan.
The company employs nearly 2,200 people in Morocco, with engineers making up about 80% of its workforce. It provides engineering, software development, and product design services for the automotive, aerospace, rail, and digital sectors.
In 2024, ALTEN Maroc opened an AI centre of excellence focused on embedded systems, process optimisation, and digital twins.
