Engineering company ALTEN has met Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, to strengthen cooperation on the country’s artificial intelligence plans.

The meeting took place on 15 April 2026 and focused on aligning ALTEN’s engineering work with Morocco’s national AI strategy.

Talks focused on the “AI Made in Morocco” vision, which aims to support local innovation and ensure AI systems follow international safety and regulatory standards.

ALTEN Morocco said it will continue expanding its AI Centre of Excellence in the country. The centre is expected to develop practical AI uses for public services and businesses and support the export of AI solutions designed by Moroccan engineers for international clients.

The company also repeated its commitment to using AI in a safe and responsible way.

Part of wider national strategy

The meeting comes as Morocco moves forward with its “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which places artificial intelligence at the centre of plans to modernise public services and strengthen the economy.

Under the Maroc IA 2030 roadmap, the government aims to create 240,000 digital jobs and generate 10 billion dollars in GDP from the sector by 2030. Officials say a key goal is technological independence, with AI systems developed locally to reflect Moroccan social and cultural needs.

Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, appointed minister in late 2024, is a specialist in distributed artificial intelligence and a former head of the International AI Center of Morocco. She has said Morocco aims to become a leading digital economy in Africa and plans to use AI in areas including 5G rollout and public sector reform.

ALTEN expands Moroccan operations

ALTEN says Morocco is a key hub in its global AI operations. The company plans to increase its local workforce to 3,300 employees by 2027.

Its AI services include AI-assisted coding, predictive risk management and intelligent document classification. The company’s Group AI Director leads a global network of more than 5,000 data and AI specialists, with Morocco acting as a major delivery centre.

Growing digital activity

The announcement comes during a busy period for Morocco’s technology sector.

New agreements were signed at the Gitex Africa event in Marrakech to help develop digital infrastructure. The government is also moving ahead with a national network of AI centres called the Al Jazari Institutes, designed to connect universities with regional economic needs.

Morocco is also working with the United Nations Development Programme to create an Arab-African regional digital hub focused on sustainable and responsible digital innovation.
