Morocco Reports New 4,299 COVID-19 Cases over Past 24 Hours

Morocco Reports New 4,299 COVID-19 Cases over Past 24 Hours

Morocco recorded 4,299 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said Tuesday, adding that 1,147 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the same period of time.

A total of 24,573,026 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and the number of fully vaccinated people (1st and 2nd doses) has reached 22,949,382 the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin, adding that 3,184,255 people have received the third dose of the vaccine.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus stands at 971,961 while recoveries rise to 943,070, i.e. a recovery rate of 97%.

The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (3,046), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (658), Marrakech-Safi (322), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (74), Fez-Meknes (63), Souss-Massa (43), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (33), the Oriental (21), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (11), Guelmim-Oued Noun (10), Draa-Tafilalet (10) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (8).

As for coronavirus-related fatalities, they stood at 14,867 (fatality rate of 1.5%), with five new deaths reported in the regions of Marrakech-Safi (2), Casablanca-Settat (1), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (1) and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (1).

The number of active cases rose to 14,024, including 183 people in a critical or severe condition, the ministry said.
