Morocco sent a mobile consulate to Dallas, Texas, on 7 and 8 February, providing more than 800 services to Moroccans living in the area, officials said.

The operation was led by the Moroccan Consulate in Miami, with help from the consulate in New York and the embassy in Washington. It was the first time the Miami consulate carried out a mission of this size in Texas.

Officials said the aim was to bring public services closer to Moroccans living abroad.

During the two days, staff handled national ID card requests and renewals, passport applications, document signing and certification, and other basic administrative services.

Dallas was chosen because it has one of the most active Moroccan communities in the United States. Many Moroccans there work in technology, energy and education.

The Miami consulate covers several southern US states. It not only provides paperwork services but also works to build business and education links. Texas has one of the largest economies in the United States and is a major centre for the energy industry. Morocco is also investing in energy, especially renewable power.

During the visit, Morocco’s Consul General in Miami, Chafika El Habti, met the Mayor of Arlington, Jim Ross. They discussed ways to increase cooperation in business, culture and education.

They also spoke about plans for the 2026 World Cup, as Arlington will host matches. The two sides discussed possible partnership agreements between Arlington and Moroccan cities.

Officials said the mobile consulate shows Morocco’s effort to improve public services and keep strong ties with its citizens abroad.
