Morocco set to boost exports to Egypt to five billion dirhams by 2027

Morocco’s exports to Egypt are poised for a dramatic surge over the next few years. According to Omar Hejira, the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, exports could climb to around five billion dirhams by 2027, a sharp rise from the current 755 million dirhams. He made these comments during a session in the House of Representatives.

Responding to a question from members of the National Rally of Independents about the steps taken to strengthen commercial ties between Morocco and Egypt, Hejira highlighted the efforts already underway. A recent delegation of more than forty Moroccan business leaders and exporters traveled to Egypt on a working visit aimed at boosting bilateral trade.

During the visit, over two hundred business-to-business meetings were held between Moroccan and Egyptian companies. These discussions led to the signing of several preliminary agreements, which Hejira indicated are expected to evolve into broader collaborations in the near future.

Hejira also pointed to significant growth in Morocco’s automotive export sector. The number of Moroccan-made vehicles shipped to Egypt jumped from just 400 to 3,000 units. The goal is to hit 5,000 vehicles by 2025 and further increase that figure to 8,000 by 2026.

The Secretary of State praised the commercial relationship between Morocco and Egypt as a shining example of cooperation between Arab nations, underpinned by deep historical ties and mutual interests. He concluded by emphasizing that the political momentum under the leadership of King Mohammed VI continues to strengthen and solidify the long-term partnership between Rabat and Cairo.
