Morocco was one of the most popular foreign destinations for Belgian travellers in 2025, with about 700,000 trips recorded during the year. The country ranked sixth among all foreign destinations and first outside Europe, according to figures from Belgium’s statistical office, Statbel.
France was the most popular destination, with 6.86 million trips. It was followed by the Netherlands with 2.63 million, Spain with 2.22 million, Italy with 1.45 million and Germany with 1.44 million.
The UK recorded 660,000 trips, Portugal 558,000, Austria 509,000 and Greece 428,000.
Morocco also ranked 10th when only tourist trips were counted, with 335,000 trips.
Belgian travellers spent €706m on trips to Morocco and stayed 14.9 million nights. Tourist trips accounted for €375m in spending and 6.4 million nights.
The figures cover both holidays and visits to friends and relatives. The large number of overnight stays reflects the strong links between Belgium and its Moroccan community, as well as holiday travel to places such as Marrakech and Agadir.
Belgian residents made 31.2 million trips involving at least one overnight stay in 2025. Some 21.8 million were abroad, while 29.3 million were for personal reasons, mainly holidays and leisure.
The figures come as the tourism sector works under a 2023-2026 strategy that aims to attract 17.5 million international visitors a year and create 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Several airlines connect Belgium with Morocco, including Royal Air Maroc, TUI fly Belgium, Ryanair and Air Arabia Maroc. Flights link Brussels and Charleroi with cities including Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, Casablanca and Nador.
