Morocco has won its first-ever gold medal at the Dance World Cup after Youssef Mourahab took first place in the senior category at this year’s competition in Dublin, Ireland. His victory is the country’s first medal at the event. It also marked the first time the Moroccan national anthem was played at the Dance World Cup.
Nearly 12,000 dancers from around the world took part in the 2026 competition. Casablanca-based dance school Temps’Danse represented Morocco with a team of 36 dancers aged between seven and 24.
Mourahab won the senior title with 90.9 points.
Other Moroccan dancers also achieved strong results.
Chama Benkirane finished fifth in the Street Dance category and received a Golden Ticket, which gives dancers access to international workshops.
The Moroccan team also finished in the world’s top 10 in the Commercial Group category. Several solo dancers scored more than 83 points and finished in the top 15 of their categories.
“Our mission is to provide them with the tools, training and opportunities they need to reach the world’s biggest stages and fully realise their potential,” said Temps’Danse founder Myriam Bouayad.
Temps’Danse has been preparing young Moroccan dancers for international competitions for years. The school said the results show that Moroccan dancers can compete with the world’s best and reflect the growing international recognition of dance talent from Morocco.
