Morocco’s Akdital expands to Riyadh with major hospital deal

Akdital, Morocco’s leading private healthcare group, has taken a major step onto the global stage with its entry into the Saudi Arabian market. The company has reached an agreement to lease and operate the Abdul Rahman Al Mishari Hospital in Riyadh, marking its first international expansion. The hospital is located in the heart of the capital’s bustling Al Olaya district, a key economic center of the city.

This move fulfills a long-held ambition for Akdital, which has been aiming to export its model of healthcare excellence beyond Moroccan borders. By establishing a presence in Saudi Arabia, the group is looking to bring its expertise and high standards of care to a broader regional audience.

The Abdul Rahman Al Mishari Hospital, founded in 1987 by its namesake, a prominent Saudi gynecologist, has built a strong national reputation for its comprehensive and high-quality medical services. With more than 140 beds and a staff of over 500 healthcare professionals, the hospital provides a wide range of medical and surgical services. Its 44 consultation clinics also make it a key player in outpatient care.

Over the years, the hospital has earned numerous international accreditations, including from the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), Joint Commission International (JCI), Accreditation Canada, and the American Association of Continuing Medical Education (AACME).

While the deal has been signed, its completion is still pending regulatory approval from Saudi authorities.

By entering the Riyadh market, Akdital is aiming to showcase its medical capabilities and commitment to quality within a framework of growing cooperation between Morocco and Saudi Arabia. The company’s expansion signals a new chapter not only for its own development but also for cross-border collaboration in healthcare innovation.
