Morocco’s tourism industry is gaining serious momentum, with over 7.2 million travelers visiting the country between January and May 2025. That figure represents a sharp 22% jump compared to the same stretch last year, translating to an additional 1.3 million visitors. Even more striking is the comparison to 2019—considered the last full year before the pandemic—when current numbers were 68% higher.
This surge reflects the sustained recovery that began in 2024, largely driven by a series of strategic initiatives that are now bearing fruit. Morocco is clearly cementing its status as a major player on the global tourism stage.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor praised the results, crediting them to strategic decisions made under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. She pointed to targeted investments that are now producing tangible returns, signaling that Morocco’s long-term vision is starting to pay off.
The growth is part of a broader roadmap laid out for the 2023–2026 period, which aims to expand air travel routes, intensify international marketing campaigns, and support tourism development projects across the country. The goal is to diversify Morocco’s offerings and attract a wider range of visitors.
With numbers continuing to climb, Morocco is well on its way to reaching its ambitious target of 26 million annual visitors by 2030.
