Renault Morocco has launched the new Renault Captur in Morocco, as part of its plan to strengthen its position in the small SUV market.

The car will be available across Renault dealerships from 7 May, with a starting price of 255,000 dirhams including tax. The launch supports Renault’s wider push into hybrid vehicles and growing demand for more efficient cars in Morocco.

The new Captur has a refreshed look with sharper styling and a more modern front design, using improved materials inside and out.

A key update is the introduction of a new hybrid engine, the E Tech Full Hybrid 160 hp, which is being offered in Morocco for the first time.

Engine choices

Customers can choose between two engines. The first is the hybrid version, the E Tech Full Hybrid 160 hp, starting from 290,000 dirhams, designed to reduce fuel use. The second is a 1.3 litre petrol engine with 155 hp, paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The hybrid system combines a petrol engine, two electric motors and a small battery. It allows the car to start and drive in electric mode and to run on electric power for much of city driving, up to around 80 percent in some conditions.

It also uses a special gearbox that works without a traditional clutch, aiming to make driving smoother.

New sporty version

For the first time, the Captur will also come in a sporty Esprit Alpine version. It replaces the previous R S Line trim and is inspired by the French sports brand Alpine.

This version includes 19 inch wheels, special interior detailing, and a unique grey colour option. Inside, it features coloured stitching, metal pedals, and Alpine branding on the seats. Outside, it has sport-style design touches and darker Renault logos.

Interior and technology

Inside the car, there is a 10.4 inch touchscreen system called OpenR Link. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for phone connection.

Renault currently holds a 34 percent share of the B-segment SUV market in Morocco and says the new Captur is designed to help keep its leading position.

Morocco’s role for Renault

Renault is also expanding its industrial presence in Morocco. In late 2025, it agreed with Moroccan authorities to create 7,500 new jobs by 2030, as part of plans to make the country a regional hub for hybrid and electric cars.

In 2024, Renault Morocco built more than 413,000 vehicles, with about 90 percent exported to 68 countries.

Wider strategy

The launch fits into Renault’s new global plan, called FutuREady, announced in March 2026. The strategy focuses on selling more higher-value models rather than just increasing volume.

Renault saw 44.8 percent sales growth in Morocco in 2025, making it one of its strongest markets.

Globally, around 20.2 percent of Renault’s sales in 2025 were hybrid or electric vehicles. The company says the new Captur is part of preparing the market for fully electric cars, which it plans to start producing in Morocco by 2030.
