OFPPT has signed a new partnership with construction company TGCC to train more skilled workers as demand grows across the building and public works sector. The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the City of Trades and Skills in Casablanca Settat. It aims to make vocational training better match the skills construction companies need, as large infrastructure projects continue across the country.
The two partners will develop new training programmes together, improve the training of instructors and expand work-based learning to help more young people find jobs in the sector.
OFPPT will support TGCC by training workplace supervisors, sharing its expertise in curriculum development and providing information on its training programmes and graduates. TGCC employees will also be able to take professional training courses offered by OFPPT.
TGCC will help update training programmes for construction and public works jobs using its industry experience. The company will also deliver specialised training for OFPPT instructors and provide teaching equipment for vocational training centres.
Students, especially those on work-based learning programmes, will complete internships and technical training on TGCC construction sites under the supervision of the company’s teams. The goal is to give them practical experience and improve their chances of finding work.
The partnership comes as OFPPT expands its training offer for the construction sector to meet rising demand for skilled workers.
The organisation now runs 11 specialised institutes for building and public works, as well as four Cities of Trades and Skills that offer construction-related courses.
More than 29,000 training places will be available for the next academic year. They include more than 22,800 diploma places, over 5,200 qualifying training places and more than 1,000 places on professional pathways. The four Cities of Trades and Skills will add nearly 800 more places to support the growing need for qualified workers in a sector driven by major infrastructure projects.
