OIC Welcomes Morocco’s Project to Fill-Finish Manufacture of Covid-19 Vaccine

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the decision taken by Morocco to produce COVID-19 vaccine and other vaccines following a signing ceremony, held Monday 5 July, of three agreements with China and presided over by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Under the agreements, Morocco will produce five million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per month, with investments of $500 million, the OIC noted in a statement.

The move is in line with the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action (OIC-SHPA) 2014-2023 regarding self-reliance in producing quality, safe, efficient, and affordable medicine and vaccines among the OIC Member States, it added.

The General Secretariat congratulates the leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco upon this landmark achievement that is aimed at enhancing self-sufficiency and the health sovereignty of Morocco.
