Orange Maroc launches 5G in over 100 cities

Orange Maroc has officially rolled out 5G services across numerous Moroccan cities, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital infrastructure development. With this move, the telecom giant aims to enhance connectivity for both individuals and businesses, while also strengthening Morocco’s position as a technological leader in the region.

This new generation of mobile network technology promises faster internet speeds, ultra-low latency, and more reliable connections. The benefits will be felt in everyday activities such as high-definition video calls, seamless streaming, online gaming, and the growing use of smart devices. Beyond consumer applications, 5G is expected to drive forward sectors like telemedicine, smart home technologies, and immersive learning experiences.

For the business world, 5G unlocks major opportunities—enabling remote operations, industrial automation, and real-time collaboration. These advancements are set to boost productivity, foster innovation, and enhance the global competitiveness of Moroccan industries.

Orange Maroc reports that its 5G coverage already spans around 100 cities, with plans to gradually expand into additional areas. However, users will need compatible devices to access the service. To ease the transition, the company has launched a range of offers tailored to support customers as they adopt this cutting-edge technology.

Backed by the broader Orange Group—which is active in 13 countries with 5G deployments—the initiative rests on a robust national infrastructure. Orange Maroc highlights its extensive network, which includes over 12,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable stretching from Tangier to Dakhla. Since its inception, the company has invested more than 100 billion dirhams into developing its network and services.

On a broader scale, Orange Maroc is pursuing international projects aimed at reinforcing Morocco’s role as a digital crossroads for Africa and Europe. One key effort includes the deployment of undersea cables that connect the kingdom to both continents, reinforcing its ambition to become a major hub for data exchange and connectivity.

The company also points to the environmental advantages of 5G, noting that it is more energy-efficient than 4G, which could help reduce the digital sector’s carbon footprint. The launch fits into Orange Maroc’s wider commitment to sustainable development and responsible innovation.

In an official statement, Hendrik Kasteel, CEO of Orange Maroc, emphasized that 5G represents a powerful engine for inclusion, innovation, and economic competitiveness in Morocco.

With this launch, Orange Maroc is not just introducing faster mobile service—it’s taking a bold step toward reshaping how technology is used across the country, paving the way for a smarter, more connected future.
